What’s happening

Crosspointe and Friends Church are becoming one church family

After months of prayer, wise counsel, and hard questions, our pastors and trustees believe God is inviting Crosspointe Church and Friends Church of Yorba Linda to join together as one church — united by one mission: helping more people find & follow Jesus.

This isn’t one church taking over another, and it isn’t about leaving behind who we are. It’s about joining together so we can accomplish more for the Kingdom of God than either church could accomplish alone. This page is where we’ll keep sharing the story, answering questions, and inviting you into the conversation.

Letters to our church family

Pastor Brian and Shannon Moore

Dear Crosspointe Family,

Twenty years ago, God called our family to Crosspointe. We came believing that God could do something special through a church fully surrendered to Him. Looking back, I’m overwhelmed by His faithfulness.

We’ve seen thousands of people place their faith in Jesus, thousands baptized, marriages restored, children and students discipled, and countless lives transformed by the power of the Gospel. None of that happened because of one person. It happened because of a church family that has consistently said “yes” to God’s leading.

Today, I believe He’s inviting us to say “yes” again.

Over the past several months, some of our pastors and trustees have spent countless hours praying, seeking wise counsel, asking hard questions, and listening carefully to the Lord. This has not been a rushed decision or simply a strategic opportunity. It has been a spiritual journey.

As we’ve prayed, one conviction has continued to grow in our hearts: God’s Kingdom has always been bigger than any one church.

That conviction has led us into conversations with Friends Church of Yorba Linda about becoming one church family. This isn’t about one church taking over another. It isn’t about leaving behind who we are. It’s about joining together so we can accomplish even more for the Kingdom of God than either church could accomplish alone.

As part of this journey, the elders of Friends Church, with the unanimous confirmation of the Crosspointe Trustees, have asked me to become the Senior Pastor of our combined church family. I’m humbled by their trust and excited about what God will do through all of us together.

For the first 18 months, Pastor Matthew Cork and I will lead together as co-pastors. That season will give us the opportunity to bring our two church families together intentionally, honor the strengths and history of both churches, and build one healthy, unified culture for the future.

We know you may have questions. That’s healthy, and we hope this booklet begins to answer many of them. More than anything, we want you to know our heart.

Shannon and I love you! We believe in what God has done here, and we believe our best days are still ahead. My prayer is that years from now we’ll look back on this season as another defining moment in our church’s story, when we trusted God enough to follow Him into something we had never experienced before.

As Joshua told the people of Israel before they crossed the Jordan, “Break camp and follow the Ark… for you have never been this way before.”

Can I let you in on a secret? “I’ve never been this way before.” But I know this: the God who has faithfully led us for the past twenty years will faithfully lead us into whatever He has next.

Thank you for praying, asking questions, and seeking God’s heart alongside us. I can’t wait to see what He will do through a church united around one mission: helping more people find & follow Jesus.

With gratitude and hope,

Pastor Brian & Shannon

Lead Pastor, Crosspointe Church

Pastor Matthew and Mardi Cork

Dear Crosspointe,

For the last several years, Mardi and I have been praying about the future of Friends Church. More specifically, we have been asking God what faithfulness looks like—not just for today, but for the generations that will follow.

As we’ve prayed, three convictions have continually guided our hearts.

First, we want to finish well. Our desire has always been to serve faithfully, love deeply, and leave behind a strong foundation that others can build upon for years to come. I have served Friends Church for the last 34 years and I love this church more than I can put into words.

Second, we want to do everything possible to protect the unity and testimony of Christ’s Church. Jesus prayed that His followers would be one so that the world would believe, as Brian has said. We never wanted our next chapter to be about building our church, but about advancing His Kingdom together.

And finally, we prayed that God would raise up leaders with a vision so compelling, so God-sized, that the only way it could ever become reality would be if He Himself moved in power—doing immeasurably more than we could ever ask or imagine. We prayed for leaders marked by humility, unwavering character, courageous faith, and a relentless passion to help people find and follow Jesus.

For nearly twenty years, I have had the privilege of knowing Brian Moore. Over those years, I have watched him lead, serve, and love people with authenticity and humility. I have seen those very qualities in both Brian and Shannon, and we have become convinced that God has uniquely prepared them for such a time as this.

In July of 2025, I approached Brian and Shannon with one simple request. Before we discussed plans or possibilities, would they simply pray with us for six months? Would they seek God’s heart alongside us and ask whether He might be calling our churches to become one?

Not a partnership. Not a merger. Not an acquisition. But one church.

Since that conversation, we have spent countless hours praying, meeting, listening, discerning, and inviting our leadership teams and boards into the process. Again and again, we have witnessed God faithfully opening doors, confirming direction, and doing what many would have thought impossible.

Healthy churches don’t often choose to become one. Yet God has been writing a story far bigger than either congregation could write alone.

This isn’t about one church absorbing another. It’s about two church families uniting around one Savior, one mission, and one vision—to reach more people with the hope of Jesus than either of us could ever reach on our own.

As I look toward this next season of ministry, I cannot imagine a greater joy than welcoming Brian, Shannon, and the Crosspointe family to become one with Friends Church.

This is far more than a succession plan. It is a Kingdom plan. It is about creating greater opportunities for people to find and follow Jesus—across our neighborhoods, throughout our communities, and around the world.

I truly believe our greatest days are not behind us—they are still ahead of us.

I am incredibly grateful that God has allowed Mardi and me to play a small part in what He is doing. And I cannot wait for the day when we stand together as one church, united by one mission, serving the one true and living God, and watching Him do more than we ever dreamed possible.

The future has never been brighter, because the One who is leading us into it has always been faithful.

In Him,

Matthew Cork

Baptism celebration

Why this?
Why now?

We believe God has brought Crosspointe and Friends together for a moment like this. We share the same heart for people, the same commitment to the Gospel, and the same desire to help people find & follow Jesus. This is about two healthy churches choosing to become one stronger church so we can reach more people, develop more leaders, strengthen more ministries, and make a greater Kingdom impact together.

And why now? Because we believe God is opening a door that may not always be open. Southern California is filled with people who are far from God, families searching for hope, and a next generation that desperately needs Jesus. Rather than protecting what God has already built, we believe He’s inviting us to multiply it. We don’t want to look back years from now and wonder what God might have done if we had possessed the faith to say yes.

Throughout this process, our senior pastor, executive pastor, and trustees have spent months praying, seeking God’s wisdom, and evaluating every opportunity and challenge — asking one question above all others: “Is this what God is asking us to do?” We believe the answer is yes.

This partnership isn’t driven by financial pressure, declining attendance, or organizational necessity. It’s driven by mission.

Global missions

Greater
Kingdom Impact

How can we help more people find & follow Jesus?

This isn’t about building a larger organization. It’s about advancing God’s Kingdom.

Together, we believe we can…

  • Reach more people. Strengthen families, care for people, and build excellent discipleship pathways.
  • Strengthen more campuses. More diversity of gifts, experiences, and perspectives working together for the Kingdom.
  • Invest in more ministries. Deeper integration across the body of Christ, allowing people and ministries to complement one another rather than work in isolation.
  • Develop more leaders. More people equipped and commissioned to make disciples where they live, work, learn, and play.
  • Plant more churches. See more lives transformed than either church could accomplish alone.

Our goal has never been to build our kingdom. Our calling is to advance His. Throughout this journey, three convictions continued to rise to the surface — the three primary reasons we believe God is leading us toward this partnership.

Three convictions

Why we believe God is leading us

01

Shared Mission

We weren’t trying to convince each other to embrace a common mission. We already shared one.

02

Greater Kingdom Impact

God’s Kingdom has always been bigger than any one person, ministry, or church.

03

Better Together

Not to lose who we are, but to become more than we could be on our own.

Students praying together

Conviction one

Shared Mission

As our pastors spent time together, something unexpected began to emerge. What surprised us most wasn’t how much we admired one another — it was how clearly we recognized the same calling.

  • A passion for reaching people far from God
  • A love for the next generation
  • A commitment to Biblical teaching
  • A heart for local and global missions
  • Shared partnerships — LOT318 & Olive Crest
  • A culture of warmth, hospitality, and compassion

Two churches with different histories but remarkably similar hearts. That kind of ministry alignment is rare, and we believe it is something God has uniquely brought together.

Welcoming families on a Sunday morning

Better
Together

This isn’t simply about what merges. It’s about what emerges.

We are better together…

  • Not because Crosspointe is failing.
  • Not because Friends Church needs rescuing.
  • Not because bigger is automatically better.
  • And not because we believe every church should merge.

We believe God is calling us together — not to lose who we are, but to become more than we could be on our own.

Stronger ministries

Together, we can strengthen and expand ministries already making a difference:

  • Re:generation
  • Marriage
  • Crosspointe Youth
  • Kidpointe
  • Family Discipleship
  • LOT318
  • Living Well
  • Global Missions
  • Recovery Road
  • Olive Crest

More opportunities

Becoming one church opens doors we don’t currently have on our own:

  • Saturday Evening Service
  • Spanish Service
  • Vacation Bible School
  • Dedicated Junior High Ministry
  • Immigration Support

Greater reach

Together, we have greater capacity to develop leaders, serve our communities, send missionaries, plant churches, and help more people find and follow Jesus. Not bigger for the sake of being bigger — stronger for the sake of the mission.

The biblical case

Why we believe this is biblical

From beginning to end, Scripture reminds us that God’s Kingdom is always bigger than any one person, any one ministry, or any one church.

While every local church has a unique calling, we are all part of one Body with one mission: helping people find & follow Jesus.

As our trustees have prayed through this opportunity, we haven’t asked, “Can this work?” We’ve continually asked, “Is this consistent with the heart of the New Testament?”

We believe it is.

Jesus prayed for unity

On the night before His crucifixion, Jesus prayed one final prayer for His followers.

“I pray that they will all be one…so that the world will believe You sent Me.” — John 17:21

Notice that Jesus connected the unity of His Church with the credibility of the Gospel. When believers demonstrate uncommon unity around Christ, the world gets a clearer picture of who Jesus is.

This partnership is our desire to live out that prayer. Not by eliminating our unique histories, but by becoming one church family with one shared mission.

God’s design for His Church

The New Testament never presents churches as isolated ministries competing with one another. Instead, healthy churches partnered together to advance the Gospel.

  • Acts 13 Antioch sent Paul and Barnabas.
  • Acts 15 Church leaders sought God’s wisdom together.
  • 2 Corinthians 8–9 Churches generously supported one another.
  • 1 Corinthians 12 One body with many parts.

Paul continually encouraged churches to pray for one another, strengthen one another, and work together for the sake of the Gospel.

From the very beginning, God’s people accomplished more together than they ever could apart.

We believe God has given Crosspointe Church and Friends Church an opportunity to live out that same biblical pattern — bringing our unique strengths together so the Body of Christ becomes stronger.

The Kingdom is bigger than any one church

Paul wrote these remarkable words while imprisoned:

“The important thing is that in every way… Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.” — Philippians 1:18

Paul wasn’t interested in building his own platform. His greatest concern was that more people hear about Jesus.

That same conviction shapes our hearts today. This decision isn’t about making one church larger. It’s about making God’s Kingdom impact greater.

Joining together doesn’t erase our unique stories or backgrounds. It means placing Christ’s mission above our personal preferences as we pursue His Kingdom together.

Better together

“Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed.” — Ecclesiastes 4:9

While this passage speaks broadly about partnership, the principle is beautifully reflected throughout the New Testament as churches worked together, encouraged one another, and shared in God’s mission.

We believe God has uniquely brought together two healthy churches with remarkable ministry alignment. Not so one church can become more important than another. Not so one church could absorb another. But so that two church families could become one, united around one mission: helping more people find & follow Jesus.

That has been our prayer from the beginning. And we believe it reflects the heart of the New Testament:

One Savior. One Gospel. One Mission. One Church.

Church family greeting one another

How we got here

The story of how God led us here

This wasn’t something we were looking for. It wasn’t part of a strategic plan or a long-term goal. It wasn’t on our roadmap. But sometimes God leads us to places we never expected.

In July 2025, Pastor Matthew Cork called Pastor Brian with an unexpected invitation: would Brian and Shannon spend the next six months praying about a possible partnership between Friends Church and Crosspointe? Those first conversations weren’t about making plans. They were about listening, asking questions, and seeking God’s direction.

As the conversations continued, we began to see something remarkable — two churches with different histories and the same heart. Two churches that love Jesus. Two churches passionate about the authority of Scripture. Two churches that care deeply about the next generation. Two churches that believe the local church is God’s plan for bringing hope to the world.

That didn’t mean the decision was easy. Our leaders asked difficult questions. We sought wise counsel. We examined doctrine, governance, leadership, culture, finances, and long-term vision — for months. And more than anything else, we asked: “What is God asking us to do?”

“You have never traveled this way before.”
Joshua 3

I’ve never led through something like this before. Our leaders have never walked through something like this before. As a church family, we’ve never been this way before. But the same God who has faithfully led Crosspointe for the past twenty years is faithfully leading us today. We don’t know every detail of what the future holds — but we know the One who holds the future.

What stays, what changes

Before we talk about what’s changing, let’s remember what isn’t

The foundation of who we are isn’t changing. These are the convictions that have shaped Crosspointe from the beginning and will continue to shape us in the future.

Every new season brings change. That’s true in life, in families, and in churches. While change can feel uncertain, it also creates opportunities that weren’t possible before. Throughout Scripture, God often invited His people to release something familiar so they could embrace something greater. While some things will look different, our purpose remains the same: helping people find & follow Jesus.

What will stay the same

  • Leadership Brian continues as Senior Pastor of our united church family.
  • Mission Helping people find & follow Jesus.
  • Biblical convictions God’s Word remains our authority.
  • Heart for evangelism Helping more people know Jesus.
  • Passion for the next generation Kids, students, and young adults remain a priority.
  • Commitment to community Growth Groups, serving, and local & global outreach.

What will change

  • One Church — One Family | One Mission | One Future Crosspointe and Friends Church will become one church family, united by one mission, one leadership team, and one vision for helping more people find & follow Jesus.
  • A Shared Name — Moving Forward as Friends Church As we become one church, we will move forward under one shared name: Friends Church. While the Crosspointe name will change, the heart, history, and ministry God has built here will become part of the story we carry forward together.
  • Sunday Worship — A New Place to Gather | The Same Mission Our Sunday worship gatherings will transition to the Friends Church Yorba Linda campus, giving our united church family the opportunity to worship together in one location. Our Crosspointe campus will continue to be used throughout the week for ministry.
  • Governance Model — Elder-Led | Shared Leadership Our governance will transition to an elder-led model. The new Elder Board will begin with four elders from Crosspointe and four from Friends Church, reflecting a shared commitment to unity, trust, and leadership as we become one church.
  • Shared Strengths — Learning from One Another | Growing Together Each church brings unique strengths, experiences, and ministries. As we become one, we’ll learn from one another and build on God’s faithfulness in both churches.
  • Greater Kingdom Impact — More People | More Communities | More Lives Changed Together, we’ll have greater capacity to reach communities, strengthen ministries, develop leaders, grow in faith, serve others and pursue opportunities that neither church could accomplish alone.

A word on the hard part

You don’t lose your church family

We know this transition may bring mixed emotions. That’s okay — every meaningful journey does. Some things will look different as we move forward together. That’s true anytime God leads His people into a new season.

But the things that matter most remain unchanged. Jesus is still our Savior. The Bible is still our foundation. Our mission is still to help people find & follow Jesus.

The relationships you’ve built, the people you’ve served alongside, and the ministry you’ve invested in continue. In fact, our prayer is that those relationships become even stronger as we welcome new brothers and sisters into our church family. Everything you’ve loved about being part of Crosspointe doesn’t disappear. It grows.

Stories from people who call Crosspointe home

The Connet family

The Connet Family’s Story

“I do not view this partnership as the loss of Crosspointe. I see it as an opportunity to multiply what God has already built here.”

Stevie and I have been part of this church since 2014 and believe deeply in the heart behind this community. Our family first found Crosspointe through the tragic loss of a friend to suicide. Here we encountered Pastor Brian’s authentic care, humility, and generous heart. At that time, I did not have a relationship with God but today I know God was already drawing me to Himself.

As we continued attending Crosspointe, this church loved us extraordinarily well and encouraged us to stretch and to grow in our faith. I believe God is inviting us to stretch and grow again in this.

That spirit of grace, humility, and genuine care helped change the direction of my life and my family. Over the years, I have watched God use Brian and this church to transform lives, restore marriages, heal families, and create change that is already reaching the next generation.

That is why I do not view this partnership as the loss of Crosspointe. I see it as an opportunity to multiply what God has already built here.

I am especially excited about what this could mean for Re:generation. We have seen firsthand what God can do through this biblical discipleship pathway that helps people confront sin and brokenness, experience the grace of Christ, and find a daily devoted and fully dependent walk with Him. The opportunity to release that ministry into a larger, established community of believers could lead to life change on a scale we have not yet experienced.

I do not see this as simply becoming part of something bigger. It is about becoming more effective in the mission Jesus has given us.

I support this partnership because I believe our greatest days of ministry may still be ahead of us. Let’s move forward together…not motivated by fear of what might change, but by faith in what God can build.

Don and Lynda Wallace

Don & Lynda Wallace’s Story

“We’ve had the privilege of calling both churches home.”

Lynda and I have been members of Crosspointe for almost seventeen years. During that time, we have seen some dramatic changes from building size and location to congregational size and membership makeup. This is not the first time that we have been part of this type of church growth.

Over our thirty-six years of marriage, our faith has played a leading role in our daily lives, and we have always placed an emphasis on finding and being part of a church community. Shortly after meeting, we began our church search, and we started attending Yorba Linda Friends Church (the Church on the Hill). It was not too big, and it was not too small. It was welcoming, the teaching was great, the music was great, and we knew that it was a fit.

I had the opportunity to be involved in their music program, and Lynda was involved in the women’s ministry. It was not long after that Matthew Cork was hired as the music director. Working directly with him and watching his growth, not only as a gifted musician, but also as a man of deep faith, was awesome. Matt and his wife Mardi have been significant leaders, not only in developing an incredible church music program but also in building a strong ministry and church community. Working with them both for over eighteen years at YLFC was an amazing time for both Lynda and me. Matt and Mardi have grown into faith-filled leaders that we are proud to call great friends.

Our journey, like so many, has had seasons, and our season at YLFC ended as God was leading us towards new paths within our own ministry. During that time, we looked around for our next church home, and we finally started attending Crosspointe. It was welcoming; the teaching and music were great, and we knew this was a fit (do you notice any similarities?). Again, it was not too big, and it was not too small. We started at Crosspointe shortly after Brian and Shannon took over and, as we saw with Matt and Mardi, we have also been able to watch God move in and around them. Under their leadership, we have watched the church grow into a truly awesome place of faith-filled, devoted people, a place that you want to be connected to and involved in.

Over time, both churches have changed, and both have grown. God wants all of us to work towards building His kingdom here on earth, and I think that it would be fair to say that both churches have fulfilled His expectations. Having had the experience of knowing and working with both Brian and Shannon and Matt and Mardi so closely over so many years (35), we see many similarities. Similarities in their leadership methods, spiritual foundations, and in their commitment to building God’s kingdom. We also see them as leaders with great vision. These are leaders upon whom God has placed His plan.

Many great biblical leaders have found themselves in exactly the same position, and they were expected to move forward in the faith that He would guide them and that His will would be done. Will there be change? Absolutely, change is a necessary part of growth! However, look at the journey that both pastor’s and their families have been on. Look at the results that both have produced for the kingdom of God! While we will need to be ready for change, how awesome will it be to unite our church families and become a bigger part of God’s plan?

Mark 16:15 says, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone”. The good news here is that we are not done building! He is not done building! This is a tremendous opportunity to become a much larger community in our efforts “To help people find & follow Jesus”!

Marisa Delgadillo’s Story

“Three generations, all reaching for Jesus in the same room. That’s Crosspointe.”

Dear Crosspointe Family,

My family has found a home where we could heal, grow, and encounter Jesus together. God has used Crosspointe to change our family’s story in ways I never imagined.

Crosspointe met my sister Sierra in her lowest valley. During her cancer journey, she was exhausted and struggling in her faith. Yet because of Crosspointe, Sundays became her favorite day. From her bed, she and her fiancé would watch services online, worship together, and dive into God’s Word.

She kept telling me how much she was learning and, for the first time, how she truly understood what following Jesus meant. People from Crosspointe showed up with meals during chemotherapy without being asked. She told me she’d never experienced a church family like that. It became a safe place for both of them to ask hard questions, and Jackson’s faith grew so much that he now serves on our photography team.

A year later, after Sierra became cancer-free, they were both baptized at Crosspointe. Watching them go from broken to baptized has been one of the greatest gifts of my life.

God’s work didn’t stop there.

My grandparents had been Catholic their entire lives and wrestled with leaving familiar traditions. But God kept drawing them to Crosspointe. My grandmother was baptized, and just this past weekend my grandfather took that same step. Seeing the head of our family publicly choose Jesus has been beautiful beyond words. Today, my husband’s parents attend too, and I love looking across the sanctuary and seeing our whole family worshipping together.

One moment I’ll never forget happened during worship. My eyes were closed and my hands were raised when I accidentally bumped into Sierra. I opened my eyes and saw her worshipping beside me. Then I looked beyond her and saw my grandma with her hands raised too.

Three generations, all reaching for Jesus in the same room.

That’s Crosspointe.

This church has brought healing to our family from years of church hurt. Here, we found safety. And that healing keeps spreading.

I’ve watched coworkers, students, and friends discover the same hope we found. One of them, who once wanted nothing to do with faith, is now passionately following Jesus, serving on our worship team, and helping lead our Young Adults ministry. Watching God transform lives like his reminds me that He is still changing stories every single week.

I truly believe God is leading Crosspointe into a season of even greater Kingdom impact. Thank you for saying yes to the unknown. Your faith is creating space for more people to encounter Jesus, just like my family did.

I can’t wait to see who God reaches through your faithfulness.

Thank you for making room.

The Snodgrass family

The Snodgrass Family’s Story

“It feels like God is calling us once again into something we did not expect.”

Over the course of several decades in ministry, my wife, Julie, and I have followed the call of God into plenty of places we thought “we would never go.” Each time we stepped forward with obedience and faith in place of doubt and fear, we saw God’s immense care, provision, and faithfulness, and we experienced personal and family growth.

Coming to Crosspointe was one of those steps for us. God took eight years to weave our family and ministry story into Crosspointe before we joined the staff, and we’re incredibly grateful for the relationships, growth, and ways we’ve seen Him at work over the past decade.

Crosspointe has become far more than a church we attend or a place to serve; it has become part of the fabric of our family’s story. We’ve had the privilege of watching God restore lives, build relationships, and continually remind us that He is always writing a story bigger than any one of us can see.

As we step into this next chapter, it feels like God is calling us once again into something we did not expect. It’s a reminder that God is, once again, weaving our story into something even greater.

This call feels like a call to unity and purpose beyond the church walls we know and love so well. It is an opportunity to link arms with believers in our cities and MULTIPLY local and global impact. We are reminded that God often calls his people outside of our comfort zones to an obedience and purpose far greater than we can think or imagine.

Our whole family is excited and walking in faith, full of anticipation, and grateful to be part of what we see God has brought together for such a time as this.

Questions & answers

Frequently asked questions

Our church

No. This is not an acquisition or a takeover. We believe God is bringing together two healthy churches to become one church family, united around one mission of helping people find & follow Jesus.

Because we’re becoming one church family, we’ll move forward under one name. A shared name reflects our shared mission, unified leadership, and common future. Friends Church has faithfully served Southern California for more than 114 years. We’re honored to become part of that legacy while helping write the next chapter. While our name will change, our mission will not.

Both churches are choosing to lay down parts of their individual identities to embrace a shared identity built on what we already hold in common — a passion for Jesus, commitment to Scripture, love for people, and a mission to help people find & follow Jesus. Like a marriage, two unique stories are coming together to form something new. Neither story is lost; both become part of something stronger together.

Leadership

Yes. He will continue serving as your Senior Pastor while also stepping into the role of Senior Pastor of our united church family. He remains deeply committed to shepherding Crosspointe and leading us into the future God has for us.

For the first 18 months after the merger, Matthew and Brian will serve together as co-pastors. This intentional transition is part of Matthew’s long-planned succession process and will help unite our church families, align our ministries, and build a strong foundation for the future. At the end of the transition, Brian will serve as Senior Pastor, and Matthew will continue serving as one of our teaching pastors.

As we bring two ministry teams together, some staff responsibilities may change. Our commitment is to care well for every staff member throughout the process, making every decision prayerfully, thoughtfully, and with compassion. Our goal isn’t simply to reduce positions — it’s to build the strongest possible ministry team for God’s glory.

Ministry

Yes. We believe our Brea Campus plays an important role in reaching its community. Our desire is not fewer opportunities for ministry, but greater effectiveness as we work together.

Yes. Kids, students, young adults, groups, Re:generation, Re-engage, Merge, ReIgnite Hope Welding Ministry, family discipleship, GriefShare, Recovery Road, LOT318, Olive Crest, Living Well, local outreach, global missions, High School Campus Clubs, and Sunday worship will continue. As we move forward together, we believe many of these ministries will become even stronger.

Crosspointe’s property will become part of Friends Church and will continue to be used for ministry. While worship services will move to the Friends campus, the current Crosspointe campus will be used for youth ministry, Re:generation, Re-engage, Merge, funerals, events, and more. Our campus will remain a vital part of our mission.

Beliefs and governance

Our governance will transition to an elder-led model, rather than our current pastor-led, trustee-governed, deacon-supported, and congregational-approved hybrid structure. Spiritual oversight and major decisions will be entrusted to a unified Elder Board. As part of this merger, Friends Church has made a significant sacrifice to reflect their commitment to unity: the new Elder Board will begin with four elders from Crosspointe and four from Friends Church, giving both churches an equal voice. In addition, Crosspointe will become part of the Friends denomination and adhere to their faith and practice.

No. We share a strong commitment to the authority of Scripture, the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and the historic truths of the Christian faith. This theological alignment is one of the primary reasons we believe God has brought us together.

Looking ahead

That’s a fair question. If becoming Senior Pastor at a bigger church was the goal, there would have been much easier ways to accomplish it. This decision has come through months of prayer, discernment, and the unanimous conviction of the Friends Elders and Crosspointe Trustees that this is God’s leading. Pastor Brian’s desire has never been a position; it’s to faithfully follow wherever God leads.

That’s understandable. While our church family will become larger, our commitment to people won’t change. Ministry happens best in smaller communities — through campuses, groups, serving teams, and meaningful relationships. If a smaller church environment is important to you, you’ll have the opportunity to worship at one of our other campuses in Brea, Orange, West Anaheim, Inland, Tustin, or Corona. Each campus has its own local community with live preaching while sharing the same mission, leadership, and vision.

We anticipate officially becoming one church family early in 2027. Between now and then, we’ll host Home Gatherings, answer questions, pray together, and thoughtfully prepare for the transition.

Walking through this together

A new season calls for uncommon unity

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” — Matthew 5:9

As we move through this season together, here’s how we can reflect the heart of Christ in every conversation.

  • Pray first Before every conversation, ask God for wisdom. Our goal is to seek God’s will together with humility, love, and faith.
  • Commit to being a peacemaker We know this announcement will spark conversations with family members, friends, coworkers, and others in our church and community. That’s a good thing.
  • Give people space Everyone processes change differently. Some are immediately excited; others need time to pray, think, and ask questions.
  • Lead with faith and unity When talking about the partnership, let’s assume the best, speak with humility, and remember that we’re all seeking the same thing: God’s will. Unity doesn’t mean that we see eye to eye, it means that we walk arm in arm as we pursue God’s direction together.
  • Know where to find answers Rather than relying on rumors or incomplete information, stay connected through our official communication channels.
  • Join the conversation We’ll be hosting Home Gatherings, Open Houses, and Town Hall meetings where you can hear more about the vision, ask questions, and engage in meaningful conversation with our leadership team. We hope you’ll take advantage of these opportunities.

Together, let’s protect the unity of our church as we trust God to lead us into this next chapter.

How you can pray

The most important thing we can do this season is pray

We believe the most important thing we can do during this season is pray. Here are a few specific ways you can pray:

Pray for humility

Ask God to help each of us hold our preferences loosely and keep His Kingdom first.

Pray for wisdom

Ask God to give our leaders and congregation wisdom, discernment, and unity.

Pray for uncommon unity

Pray that both churches would be united in heart, purpose, and love, reflecting Jesus’ prayer that “they may all be one.”

Pray for extravagant generosity

Ask God to help each of us give up the things we love for the things we love even more.

Pray for courageous faith

Pray that our church family would approach this with faith, trust, and a willingness to follow wherever God leads.

Pray for unconditional love

Pray that more people would come to know Jesus, more lives would be transformed, and more communities reached with the Gospel.

Thank you for praying with us. We believe God honors a church that seeks Him first, and we’re trusting Him to faithfully lead us into this next chapter.

Lord, protect our uncommon unity. Keep us humble. Give us courageous faith. Help us love people more than preferences. May everything we do bring glory to You and help more people find & follow Jesus.

What happens next

We want everyone to feel informed, heard, and encouraged

We believe this journey is about more than a decision. It’s about seeking God’s will together as one church family. We want everyone to feel informed, heard, and encouraged. Please continue praying, asking questions, and seeking God’s wisdom with us.

We believe the same God who has faithfully led us to this point will faithfully lead us into the future. We want every person who calls Crosspointe home to have the opportunity to understand the vision, ask honest questions, and seek the Lord with us.

Pray

Continue praying for wisdom, unity, and God’s leading.

Join a Home Gathering

Over the next several weeks we’ll host informal gatherings throughout our communities. Each one is a chance to:

  • Hear more of the story behind the partnership
  • Ask questions in a smaller setting
  • Meet members of our leadership team
  • Pray together as a church family
Join ONE Home Gatherings

Stay informed

We’ll continue providing updates through Sunday services, email, our website, and other communication channels.

Continue the mission

While we prepare for tomorrow, let’s remain faithful today. Every Sunday matters. Every person matters.

Look ahead with faith

We believe God has brought us to this moment for a reason. Like Joshua standing on the edge of the Jordan River, we’re preparing to step into a place we’ve never been before. That can feel both exciting and uncertain. But our confidence isn’t in a plan. It’s in the God who has faithfully led us every step of the way.

Thank you for praying. Thank you for seeking God’s heart. Thank you for walking this journey with us.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

  • Will you pray?
  • Will you seek God’s heart?
  • Will you walk with us?

The future is bright

Twenty years ago, God called Crosspointe to help people find & follow Jesus. Since then, we’ve watched Him do immeasurably more than we could have asked or imagined.

And we believe He’s not finished yet.

As we look ahead, we don’t see the end of one story. We see the beginning of a new chapter. A chapter where two church families become one. A chapter marked by making more disciples. A chapter built on extraordinary shared mission. A chapter that reminds us we truly are better together.

We believe God is inviting us into something bigger than ourselves. Not to build a bigger church, but to reach more people with the hope of Jesus. To see more lives transformed, more families strengthened, more leaders developed, more churches planted, and more communities impacted by the Gospel.

The future won’t be defined by a new name. A new structure. It will be defined by a church that remains fully devoted to Jesus, and fully committed to His mission.

Thank you for praying. Thank you for asking questions. Most of all, thank you for trusting God through this journey.

“Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Ephesians 3:20–21
